Krakatit Anniversary

On Friday, January 31, 2025, the Na Boršově Café hosted a musical-literary evening dedicated to Karel Čapek and his novel Krakatit. The event was organized and hosted by Hynek Žirovnický, with readings from Čapek’s work by Jitka Čejková (VŠCHT Prague, editor of #Robot100 and #Krakatit100), Zdeněk Vacek (director of the Karel Čapek Memorial in Stará Huť near Dobříš), and Vít Svoboda (VŠCHT Prague). The readings were interwoven with fascinating discussions about Čapek, the women in his life, and the era in which he created, especially from the perspective of the scientific and technological knowledge available to him at the time. The evening’s atmosphere was enriched by a swing quartet. 🎷🎶
