Krčkovice 2025: Connecting Students with Industry and Research

Every year, Jitka organises a multi-day field programme for first-year master’s students of the Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering programme at the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague. After three successful years at the Bestvina training centre, this year the event took place for the first time in Krčkovice, in the heart of the Bohemian Paradise — a place Jitka particularly loves and which quickly won over the students as well.

From 16 to 19 September 2025, a total of 44 students participated in Krčkovice 2025. They were accommodated at the Krčkovice campsite and travelled by bus to individual excursions. The event was co-organised by  Lukáš Valenz.

The programme combined professional excursions with academic networking. Students visited six industrial partners:

  • Lovochemie (Lovosice)
  • Mondi (Štětí)
  • Membrain/Mega (Stráž pod Ralskem)
  • Rohozec Brewery (Malý Rohozec)
  • Crytur (Turnov)
  • Lučební závody (Kolín)

The final day was dedicated to presentations by research groups from the Department of Chemical Engineering at UCT Prague. This format allowed students not only to see large-scale industrial operations first-hand, but also to meet their lecturers, classmates, and potential thesis supervisors in an informal and open atmosphere.

We sincerely thank all representatives of the visited companies for their time, hospitality, and long-term cooperation. Their willingness to engage with our students and share their expertise is invaluable and greatly appreciated.

Krčkovice 2025 once again confirmed how important it is to connect academic study with real industrial practice — and we are already looking forward to next year’s edition.
